Installation Notes

Professional installation required. Proper timing system service is critical:

1. Disconnect battery — Disconnect the negative battery cable before beginning work.

2. Remove timing cover — Remove the timing cover and any components blocking access.

3. Rotate engine to TDC — Align timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft per manufacturer specifications.

4. Release tension on old tensioner — Carefully release tension from the old tensioner following the service manual procedure.

5. Remove the old tensioner — Unbolt and remove the old timing tensioner.

6. Inspect timing belt/chain — Check for wear, cracks, or damage; replace if necessary.

7. Inspect idler pulleys — Check pulleys for wear, noise, or roughness; replace as needed.

8. Clean mounting area — Clean the mounting surface thoroughly.

9. Prepare the new tensioner — Position the new tensioner according to manufacturer instructions.

10. Install the new tensioner — Bolt the new tensioner into place and torque to specification.
