Installation Notes

Installation steps:

1. Safely lift and support vehicle – remove front wheels and brake components (calipers, drums, hubs) as needed.

2. Remove steering knuckle – disconnect tie rod, drag link, and steering arm.

3. Press out old king pins – use a hydraulic press. Remove old bushings from the axle beam.

4. Inspect axle beam bores – check for ovality or damage. Clean thoroughly.

5. Install new bushings – press into axle beam (upper and lower). Ensure oil holes align.

6. Ream bushings to size (if required) – using a precision reamer to achieve correct king pin clearance (typically 0.001-0.003 inches).

7. Lubricate king pin – apply high-quality chassis grease to the pin and bushings.

8. Assemble thrust bearing – place on lower or upper side as per OE orientation.

9. Insert king pin – tap into place using brass drift. Install lock pins or retaining bolts.

10. Check end play – use dial indicator to measure vertical movement. Should be ≤ 0.005 inches. Adjust with shims if necessary.

11. Reassemble steering knuckle, seals, caps – install dust caps and grease fittings.

12. Grease thoroughly – pump grease until fresh grease appears from all seals.

13. Reinstall wheels and brake components – torque lug nuts and other fasteners.

14. Road test – check for smooth steering, no binding, no play. Re-torque after 500 km.
