Installation Notes

Professional mechanic or driveline specialist installation is strongly recommended:

1. Ensure vehicle is safely raised – Use appropriate jack stands or a lift to support the front axle and frame.

2. Disconnect battery – Always disconnect the negative terminal before working.

3. Drain differential oil – Drain the front differential lubricant into a suitable container.

4. Remove the front wheels – Remove both front wheels and tires.

5. Remove the skid plates and underbody panels – Remove any shields covering the front differential.

6. Disconnect the front propeller shaft – Disconnect the front driveshaft from the differential companion flange.

7. Disconnect the axle shafts – Remove the front axle shafts (half shafts) from the differential housing.

8. Remove the differential carrier – Unbolt the differential carrier from the front axle box; remove the carrier assembly.

9. Support the axle housing – Support the front axle box with a suitable jack.

10. Remove the mounting bolts – Unbolt the front axle box from the suspension crossmember and frame.

11. Remove the old front axle box – Carefully remove the old housing; note the orientation and mounting points.

12. Clean mounting surfaces – Remove dirt, rust, and debris from the frame and crossmember mounting areas.

13. Install the new front axle box – Position the new housing on the crossmember; align bolt holes.

14. Install mounting bolts – Hand-start and tighten bolts to manufacturer torque specifications.

15. Reinstall the differential carrier – Install the carrier assembly with a new gasket; torque bolts to specification.

16. Reconnect axle shafts – Install the front axle shafts; ensure proper engagement with the differential side gears.

17. Reconnect the propeller shaft – Align match marks made during removal; reconnect universal joints and flanges.

18. Reinstall skid plates and underbody panels – Reinstall all removed shields and panels.

19. Reinstall the front wheels – Install the wheels and torque lug nuts to specification.

20. Refill differential oil – Fill with the correct grade and quantity of differential lubricant.

21. Check for leaks – Inspect the housing and seal areas for oil leakage.

22. Road test – Test drive to verify proper 4WD operation, no abnormal noise, and no vibration.
