Product Description
ISUZU NPR ELF Inner Rear Hub Oil Seal 8-94336316-0 8943363160 OEM Fit

Inner Rear Hub Oil Seal 8-94336316-0 8943363160 for ISUZU NPR ELF NQR 4HK1 4BD1 4HF1 — Verified OEM Fit 80*113*12/22 mm NBR Wheel Hub Seal

The Inner Rear Hub Oil Seal with OEM numbers 8-94336316-0 and 8943363160 is a verified direct-fit replacement for ISUZU NPR / ELF / NQR / NKR / NMR light and medium-duty trucks equipped with 4HK1 / 4BD1 / 4HF1 / 4HG1 diesel engines. This oil seal is a critical rear wheel hub sealing component, responsible for retaining hub lubrication and preventing dirt, water, and debris from entering the inner rear wheel bearing assembly to ensure smooth bearing operation and extended component life.

Working Principle

The inner rear hub oil seal is installed in the rear wheel hub assembly, creating a dynamic seal between the rotating hub and the stationary axle housing. It retains gear oil and grease within the inner wheel bearing cavity while preventing external contaminants from entering. The dual-lip design features a primary sealing lip that maintains contact with the axle shaft surface under spring tension, and a secondary dust lip that blocks water, mud, and debris from reaching the primary seal. The NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) construction with metal case provides excellent resistance to gear oil, high temperatures, and compression set, ensuring reliable sealing under all operating conditions.

Failure Symptoms

Replace the inner rear hub oil seal when any of these symptoms appear:

  • Gear oil leakage at the rear wheel hub — visible oil traces on the inner wheel or brake backing plate
  • Wheel bearing noise or vibration — oil loss and contaminant entry cause accelerated bearing wear, producing growling or rumbling noises from the rear axle
  • Brake contamination — oil leaking past a failed seal can contaminate brake shoes or pads, reducing braking effectiveness
  • Water or mud intrusion — damaged dust lip allows contaminants into the bearing cavity, causing rust and pitting on bearing surfaces
  • Excessive wheel bearing play — prolonged seal failure leads to bearing degradation and detectable wheel play
Critical Inspection Note: ISUZU service manuals require that the rear hub oil seal be replaced, never reused, whenever the wheel hub is removed. Always replace both left and right seals simultaneously to maintain balanced bearing protection. Coat the oil seal lip with MP grease before installation.

Important Fitment Notes:
  • This oil seal is designed for the 80*113*12/22 mm application. Confirm the dimensions of your original oil seal before ordering.
  • The ISUZU N-Series rear hub uses one inner oil seal per side. Verify the required quantity before ordering.
  • Oil seals should be replaced in pairs (both sides of the rear axle) to maintain balanced bearing protection.
  • For right-hand drive (RHD) vehicles, verify clearance and orientation. Refer to the ISUZU workshop manual for the correct procedure.
Fitment Verification: To ensure 100% accurate matching, please provide the VIN or chassis number before ordering. We will verify it through the ISUZU global EPC system.

Installation & Maintenance Recommendations
IMPORTANT: Wheel hub service must be performed by a qualified technician. Always support the vehicle on a hoist and relieve hub nut tension before removing the hub. Never reuse old oil seals.

Installation Guidelines — Reference ISUZU Workshop Manual

  1. Preparation: Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Remove the wheel and brake drum. Support the rear axle housing.
  2. Disassembly: Remove the axle shaft retaining nuts. Carefully withdraw the axle shaft assembly. Remove the old inner oil seal using a seal puller or pry bar.
  3. Inspection: Inspect the axle shaft sealing surface for wear, scoring, or pitting. Inspect the wheel bearing for wear or damage. Replace any damaged components.
  4. Cleaning: Clean the hub bore and axle shaft thoroughly. Remove all old seal material and grease.
  5. Installation: Coat the new oil seal lip with MP grease. Use a seal driver or socket that matches the seal outer diameter to press the seal into the hub bore until it is fully seated.
  6. Axle Shaft Installation: Carefully reinstall the axle shaft assembly. Tighten the rear hub spindle nut to 245 N·m (181 ft·lb). For the rear wheel bearing inner adjust nut, tighten to 68 N·m (50 lb ft) for initial seating, then tighten the outer adjust nut to 169 N·m (125 lb ft).
  7. Final Check: Verify the hub rotates smoothly without binding. Check for gear oil leakage at the seal.
  8. Road Test: Lower the vehicle and perform a road test to verify wheel bearing operation and noise levels.

Recommended Torque Values:

Fastener Torque
Rear Hub Spindle Nut 245 N·m (181 ft·lb)
Rear Wheel Bearing Inner Adjust Nut 68 N·m (50 lb ft)
Rear Wheel Bearing Outer Adjust Nut 169 N·m (125 lb ft)

Maintenance Schedule

  • Every 10,000 km: Inspect oil seal for gear oil leakage. Check wheel bearing for abnormal noise or play.
  • Every 40,000–50,000 km: Inspect wheel bearing condition. Replace oil seal if any leakage or damage is found.
  • Whenever the wheel hub is removed: Always replace the oil seal with a new unit.
  • When brake contamination is detected: Inspect oil seal immediately. Replace if any oil leakage is found.
