Installation Notes

Professional engine builder or mechanic installation is strongly recommended:

1. Ensure engine is cool – Allow the engine to cool completely before disassembly.

2. Disconnect battery – Always disconnect the negative terminal before working.

3. Drain fluids – Drain engine oil and coolant into suitable containers.

4. Disassemble engine – Remove components as required for the overhaul (cylinder head, oil pan, timing cover, etc.).

5. Clean all mating surfaces – Thoroughly clean all gasket surfaces; remove old gasket material, oil, and debris.

6. Check surface flatness – Inspect cylinder head and block decks for warpage; resurface if necessary.

7. Install new gaskets – Position each new gasket correctly, ensuring proper alignment with dowel pins and bolt holes.

8. Use new head bolts – If torque-to-yield (TTY) head bolts are specified, always use new bolts.

9. Torque in sequence – Tighten all fasteners to manufacturer torque specifications in the correct sequence.

10. Reassemble engine – Reinstall all components in reverse order of disassembly.

11. Refill fluids – Fill with correct engine oil and coolant mixture.

12. Prime oil system – Crank engine without starting (if possible) to prime oil system.

13. Start and test – Start engine and check for leaks at all gasket surfaces.

14. Re-torque if required – Some gaskets may require re-torquing after initial heat cycle.

15. Road test / Operational test – Test the machine to verify proper engine operation and no leaks.
