Installation Notes

Professional mechanic or steering specialist installation is strongly recommended:

1. Ensure vehicle is safely raised – Use appropriate jack stands or a lift to support the front axle.

2. Remove the front wheel – Remove the wheel on the side being serviced.

3. Loosen the jam nut – Loosen the tie rod adjusting sleeve jam nut (count threads before removal for approximate alignment).

4. Remove the cotter pin and nut – Remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the ball stud.

5. Separate the ball stud – Use a proper tie rod end puller or ball joint separator; do not hammer directly on the stud.

6. Remove the old tie rod end – Unscrew the tie rod end from the adjusting sleeve; note the number of turns.

7. Clean the threads – Clean the adjusting sleeve threads and inspect for damage.

8. Install the new tie rod end – Screw the new tie rod end into the adjusting sleeve to the same approximate position.

9. Install the ball stud – Insert the ball stud into the steering knuckle; install the castle nut and torque to specification.

10. Install a new cotter pin – Secure the castle nut with a new cotter pin.

11. Tighten the jam nut – Tighten the jam nut against the adjusting sleeve.

12. Reinstall the wheel – Install the wheel and torque lug nuts to specification.

13. Check toe setting – A professional wheel alignment is required after installation.

14. Road test – Test drive to verify proper steering response, no play, and no abnormal noise.
