Installation Notes

Professional mechanic installation recommended:

1. Locate the clutch master cylinder – Typically mounted on the firewall in the engine compartment.

2. Remove old fluid – Use a clean suction tool to remove old fluid from the reservoir.

3. Disconnect the hydraulic line – Carefully disconnect the hydraulic fluid line from the master cylinder; cap the line to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

4. Disconnect the push rod – Disconnect the push rod from the clutch pedal assembly inside the cabin.

5. Remove mounting nuts – Unbolt the master cylinder from the firewall.

6. Remove the old assembly – Carefully remove the complete assembly from the vehicle.

7. Bench bleed the new cylinder – Before installation, bench bleed the new master cylinder to remove air and prime the internal chambers.

8. Position the new assembly – Install the new master cylinder on the firewall; hand-start mounting nuts.

9. Torque mounting nuts – Tighten nuts to manufacturer torque specifications.

10. Connect the push rod – Reconnect the push rod to the clutch pedal assembly; ensure proper free play adjustment.

11. Connect the hydraulic line – Reconnect the hydraulic line to the master cylinder; torque the fitting to specification.

12. Refill with fresh fluid – Fill the reservoir with the recommended brake/clutch fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4 as specified).

13. Bleed the clutch system – Bleed the clutch hydraulic system to remove air; use the correct procedure.

14. Check for leaks – Inspect all connections for fluid leaks; ensure the master cylinder is not leaking.

15. Test clutch pedal – Pump the clutch pedal; ensure firm pedal feel and proper pedal height.

16. Check clutch operation – Start the engine; test clutch engagement and gear shifting in a safe area.
