Installation Notes

Professional mechanic or transmission specialist installation is strongly recommended:

1. Ensure vehicle is safely supported – Use appropriate jack stands or a lift to support the vehicle.

2. Disconnect battery – Always disconnect the negative terminal before working.

3. Remove the transmission – Support the transmission and remove it from the vehicle.

4. Remove the old clutch assembly – Unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel in a criss-cross pattern; remove the pressure plate and clutch disc.

5. Inspect the flywheel – Check for cracks, hot spots, scoring, or wear; resurface or replace if necessary.

6. Inspect the release bearing and pilot bearing – Replace if worn or noisy.

7. Clean the flywheel surface – Remove all oil, grease, and debris from the flywheel friction surface.

8. Install the new clutch disc – Position the clutch disc against the flywheel with the proper orientation (usually “flywheel side” marked).

9. Align the clutch disc – Insert a clutch alignment tool through the disc and into the pilot bearing.

10. Install the new pressure plate – Position the pressure plate over the disc and align with flywheel dowel pins.

11. Install mounting bolts – Hand-start all bolts; tighten in a criss-cross pattern to manufacturer torque specifications.

12. Remove the alignment tool – Carefully withdraw the alignment tool from the clutch assembly.

13. Install the release bearing – Install the new release bearing on the release fork or input shaft retainer.

14. Reinstall the transmission – Carefully reinstall the transmission and secure all mounting bolts.

15. Check clutch operation – Verify proper clutch pedal feel and release function.

16. Road test – Test drive to verify smooth engagement, no slipping, and proper gear shifting.
