Installation Notes

Professional mechanic or DIY installation recommended:

1. Ensure engine is cool – Never work on the engine when it is hot to avoid burns.

2. Position a drain pan – Place a suitable container beneath the oil filter to catch used oil.

3. Remove the old filter – Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old filter assembly.

4. Clean the mounting surface – Wipe the filter mounting base clean; remove old gasket residue.

5. Lubricate the new gasket – Apply a thin coat of clean engine oil to the new filter gasket.

6. Install the new filter – Screw the new filter assembly onto the mounting base by hand until the gasket contacts the base.

7. Tighten the filter – Tighten an additional 3/4 to 1 turn by hand (do not use a wrench to avoid over-tightening).

8. Check for leaks – Start the engine and allow oil pressure to build; inspect the filter area for leaks.

9. Check oil level – Turn off the engine, wait a few minutes, and check the oil level; top up if necessary.

10. Dispose of old filter – Drain and dispose of the old filter and used oil in accordance with local regulations.
