Product Description
Steering Knuckle King Pin Kit KP-133 40025-Z5025 for Nissan UD CM-90 — φ35×205
Product Overview

The Steering Knuckle King Pin Kit, Model KP-133 / MN-53, with OEM numbers 40025-Z5025 / 40025Z5025, is a verified direct-fit replacement for Nissan UD CM-90 series heavy-duty trucks. This king pin kit is a complete repair solution for front axle steering knuckle maintenance, including king pins, bearings, bushings, shims, and seals — widely used in Nissan UD CM-90 / CM-85 / Condor series trucks.

How It Works

The king pin is the core pivot component of the front axle steering system, connecting the axle beam to the steering knuckle, allowing the wheels to pivot left and right for steering. This king pin kit includes the following components:

  • King Pin — Precision-machined pivot pin, bearing vertical front axle loads and steering lateral forces
  • Bearings — Reduce friction between the king pin and steering knuckle for light steering effort
  • Bushings — Provide a wear-resistant sliding interface, extending king pin service life
  • Shims / Seals — Adjust axial clearance and prevent grease leakage and contaminant ingress

When the king pin and associated bearings/bushings wear out, the steering system develops play and vibration. This kit provides all necessary components for a complete steering knuckle overhaul.

Failure Symptoms

⚠️ Replace immediately if any of these symptoms occur:

  • Loose Steering / Excessive Play — Increased steering wheel free play; delayed steering response
  • Front Wheel Wobble / Vibration — Noticeable wheel oscillation while driving, especially on rough roads
  • Heavy Steering — Steering wheel becomes significantly heavier
  • Uneven Tire Wear — Feathering or irregular wear on front tires
  • Brake Pull — Vehicle pulls to one side during braking
  • Clunking Noises — Metallic knocking sounds from front axle while driving or turning

Installation Guidelines

⚠️ IMPORTANT: The king pin is a critical safety component of the front axle steering system. Improper installation may cause steering failure or wheel detachment, leading to serious traffic accidents. Installation should be performed by qualified chassis specialists. Always perform wheel alignment and a road test after installation.

Installation Steps (Refer to workshop manual):

  1. Safety Prep — Park on level ground, chock wheels, lift and support front axle
  2. Remove Front Wheel — Remove front wheel tire and hub assembly
  3. Remove Steering Knuckle — Remove tie rod end, brake caliper, and other components; remove steering knuckle from axle beam
  4. Press Out Old King Pin — Use special press tools to press old king pin out of the knuckle
  5. Clean Mounting Holes — Thoroughly clean king pin mounting holes in knuckle and axle beam
  6. Inspect Mounting Holes — Check for scoring, wear, or deformation
  7. Install New Bushings — Use special press tools to press new bushings into knuckle (do not hammer)
  8. Install New King Pin — Insert new king pin through knuckle and axle beam; ensure smooth fit
  9. Install Bearings & Shims — Install new bearings and adjustment shims; set king pin axial clearance to specification
  10. Grease — Inject sufficient high-quality grease through grease fittings
  11. Install Steering Knuckle — Reinstall knuckle assembly onto axle beam; torque mounting bolts to specification
  12. Reinstall Components — Reinstall brake caliper, tie rod end, and other components
  13. Wheel Alignment — Wheel alignment is mandatory — adjust toe and camber angles to specification
  14. Road Test — Perform road test — confirm smooth steering, no pulling, no abnormal noise
