1. Safely lift and support the vehicle - support the axle or spring
2. Remove the leaf spring or shackle (if necessary to access the bushing)
3. Place the spring eye or shackle on a press - support around the bushing outer diameter
4. Press out the old bushing - use a socket or drift that contacts the outer metal sleeve. Apply penetrating oil if seized
5. Clean the bushing bore - remove rust, debris, and old rubber residue
6. Inspect the bore - check for ovality or damage. Replace the spring or shackle if necessary
7. Lubricate the new bushing outer sleeve - apply a thin film of soapy water or rubber-friendly lubricant
8. Press the new bushing into the bore - use a drift that contacts the outer sleeve only. Press until flush or to specified depth
9. Reinstall the leaf spring or shackle - torque mounting bolts to specification (with vehicle at ride height for rubber bushings)
10. Lower vehicle and test drive - listen for abnormal noise
