Installation Notes

Installation steps (typical for alternator replacement):

1. Disconnect battery negative cable – Safety first. Ensure the battery is disconnected to prevent electrical shorts.

2. Loosen the drive belt tensioner – Remove the serpentine or V-belt from the alternator pulley.

3. Disconnect electrical connections – Unplug the main B+ terminal and the regulator connector from the old alternator. Note the wire positions.

4. Remove mounting bolts – Unbolt the alternator from its bracket (typically 2-3 bolts).

5. Remove the old alternator – Carefully extract the unit from the engine bay.

6. Compare new alternator with old – Verify mounting bolt pattern, pulley type, and electrical connector compatibility.

7. Transfer the pulley (if necessary) – If the new alternator does not include a pulley, transfer the one from the old unit.

8. Install the new alternator – Position the new alternator into the bracket and hand-tighten the mounting bolts.

9. Torque mounting bolts – Tighten to manufacturer specification (refer to service manual).

10. Reconnect electrical connections – Connect the B+ terminal and the regulator connector securely.

11. Reinstall the drive belt – Route the belt correctly and tension it according to the service manual.

12. Reconnect the battery – Reconnect the negative cable.

13. Test the charging system – Start the engine and measure voltage at the battery terminals. Should read approximately 27.5-28.5V for a 24V system. Check for proper belt tension and no unusual noise.

14. Test drive – Verify all electrical systems function correctly.
