• Inspect the old intercooler: Look for oil residue inside the charge air pipes — some oil is normal (from CCV), but excessive oil may indicate turbo seal wear.

• Replace all hose clamps if they are corroded or weak — use constant-tension worm-drive clamps.

1. Disconnect battery negative terminal.
2. Remove front grille and/or lower bumper cover for access (depending on year).
3. Locate the intercooler — mounted in front of the radiator/condenser.
4. Loosen the clamps on the two charge air hoses (turbo outlet to intercooler inlet, intercooler outlet to intake manifold).
5. Remove the hoses.
